Cross Country Ski/Snowshoe
Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing enthusiasts can delight in four to five miles of groomed and marked trails at the Ward Mountain Recreation Area. Another 15 miles of un-groomed, marked trails await the more adventurous.
The Ward Mountain Recreation Area is managed jointly by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Forest Service.

The Ward Mountain Recreation Area is located just six miles southwest of Ely.
Cave Lake State Park hosts a public ice skating rink during winter months. The rink is open to all park visitors with only a fee to rent equipment if needed.
The skating rink is located just off the north dock of Cave Lake.

The park is eight miles south of Ely on U.S. 93, turning onto Success Summit road (State route 486) and continuing east for seven miles.
